Mos is one of the best posters left on here. He'll be missed.

And since this is the HoF, Schmuto, you're a dick. :)

At one time I belonged to a FJR1300 (motorcycle forum). One of the members decided to start their own forum. Anyone who mentioned 'the other site' was banned on the spot.

Mos is frustrated and angry because Peak caused the Greatest Depression.

Mos (like most here and everyone elsewhere) was not really ready for the financial meltdown, and has no idea how to deal with the coming social breakdown. His last intellectual refuge an panacea (Permaculture) has lately been called into question (by yours truly among others) and the stress has grown to intense. I actually like him. He was bright.

He will not be back when oil again briefly hits $150 again. He won't have time because the internet will shut down for lack of income.

I hope I have a dime for everyone who says oil won't hit $100, $150, or even $300.

It will hit $500, just give it time. However by then those $500 will be worth less than $100 now.

Anyway, the PTB are playing a game (PO) that actually has no solution, or at least no solution that will maintain BAU. I'm already expecting a second financial meltdown this fall, which fortunately, will not hit your 401k anything like it did in 2008. However bond holders, especially state bond holders, will be having regrets.

I have no quarrel with Mos as a person, so best regards if you don't make it back.

Mos,

If someone here has pissed you off, just remember, its just some faceless poster on the internet!

I didn't necessarily agree with all your posts but I did like reading them.

I think we can all agree that the next few years will be ...... intresting. I find that knowledge can be a two edged sword. On one hand it can scare the hell out of you. On the other it can help you prepare. It also helps you not panic when a crisis hits while many around you will do prceisley that.

All the best mate.

If my posts are "predictably" repulsive, then at least appreciate that that is the only thing predictable about them.

Really? How about the thread I started recently on the accusation that the SPR had been drawn down?

I haven't seen it. Fair enough, but I just tend to see negativity and baiting in your posts. I'll go and have a look.

Its hard to believe Mos is really gone. I think its clear from all the praise and accolades that people have posted here to Mos that he/she will be much missed. I don't know about the rest of you, but personally I'll miss all the cutesy cat pictures Mos posted with the cutesy-wutesy captions that fit the situation so well.

Good-bye Mos.

Most people on here are on the political fringes in many ways, but Mos represent the centerist mainstream reaction to doom. He understood the seriousness of the situation but retained a centerist perspective. His loss is a loss in terms of his personal opinion but also a window into how the majority of americans will psycholgicaly deal with the concept of peak oil.

Other than the technical issues (which PO.com deals with marvelously) one of its most worthwhile attributes is seeing how people react and getting an insight into why they react the way they do. Unfortunately it is dominated by fringe thinking (which can be stimulating in its own right) so the loss of centerists is a bit of a real loss.

I have trouble believing that the "majority of Americans" will subject all the varying points of view and information available about peakoil/doom to the same degree of scrutiny and criticism that Mos brings to bear. I think his reaction is extremely atypical. Most people, in my experience, are simply not that willing to give a subject so much time and attention. They want answers instantly, and they want those answers simple and easy to understand.

I second that... I want truth handed to me on a silver platter all tied up with a pretty bow. The first do that gets my vote, regardless of whether it is right wrong or different.
