I found an old buddy today on facebook! We were best pals during the 80's and after I moved we drifted apart and it's been 15 years since we last spoke. Now we're hooked up again. Really neat!

There are like 60 pages in Facebook with your name in there, not sure if I got the right one :)

Stop adding me, if you're gonna have a break down and delete me. I haven't been online much because of family things... But I find this behavior to be very rude. I won't accept another invite from you. Have fun kiddo...

I'm on facebook more because of old friends. And my 20 year reunion is coming up soon.

My husband actually posted our address on facebook and I took it off his profile. But, to be honest he's right that it's not very hard to find out where people live. We all do live somewhere after all. I don't give numbers to people I don't know. And I really don't post every detail of my life the way some do. You can have fun on social networking sites, just use common sense.

Facebook hits the 150,000,000 users mark!

If Facebook were a country, it would be the world's 8th most populous, right between Bangladesh and Nigeria.

On a related note, if you are a member of facebook and would like to "meet" other facebook Peak Oilers, I suggest joining the www.peakoil.com facebook group founded by our very own emersonbiggins.

it just hit the 300 million mark, guess it's now close to being the third most populous country.

Btw I'm in the peakoil.com group, with my first name Bas, feel free to add me, just let me know who you are on peakoil.com...

Having everyone on face book is exactly what the man wants.
Due diligence dudes. Do your research. It cannot be undone.

Don't you think the government has already demanded from you all the personal information it needs from you? One has to ask permission and "submit" an "application" for "registration" to do pretty much anything.

Broadcasting what you are about to do this weekend, pictures of what you did last weekend, your current status, what groups you belong to and who your friends are, is quite a level above what is available outside the social networking sites.

Facebook crosses a line for me, I won't do it. I don't like my cellphone either. I love going places where there isn't cell reception like the place we are buying in Alaska. Also, we are going to Mongolia for the next three years. . . lots of places without cell reception there.

Yes. Social networking is for noobs. And people who like corporations selling their personal info to the government and whatnot.

...but doesn't simply being part of a site such as this add most of the same risks? Here we provide opinions, details about ourselves in some way, and lots of other information. All of that could be tracked down to IP addresses, internet providers, keyword searches, etc...

Not to mention phone services, texting, email...
